Two matches: the last and decisive. Then the curtain will fall on the regular season. And Belluno Volley will immerse itself in the Serie A3 Credem Banca playoffs for the first time. But, in the post-season grid, Gian Luca Colussi’s team intends to start from a privileged position, also to have the field factor in their favour, in the first round. Thus, in the decisive phase of the year, all that remains is to rely on certainties. And one of these goes by the name of Matteo Mozzato.
MEDICAL STAFF – The twenty-one-year-old center back, who grew up in Volley Treviso, has recently exceeded 600 points in Serie A. But recently he has been limited by a back problem: «I still have to fully recover – he states – but he’s doing much better, thanks to the great work of our medical staff. Starting from Dr. Marco Sommavilla, up to the physiotherapists and the athletic trainer Sergio Sartori: I want to thank each of them.”
FIRST HALF – Mozzato goes back to the deficit he suffered last Sunday, in front of the thousand at the Spes Arena: «Against Mantua we made too many mistakes and lacked a bit of character in the decisive moments. In the third set, in particular, we had several chances to reopen the match, but we weren’t able to make the most of them. I, for one, did not materialize the possibility of 26-24: I fear that, at night, I will still dream of my bad first half for a long time.”
PACE – In 2024, only Motta maintained a higher pace than the rhinos: «I expected an increase in performance compared to the first leg – continues Mozzato -. Even during the week, the team’s improvements can be seen first-hand. Regardless of the defeat against the Gabbiano, we are going in the right direction.”
COMPLETE IN EVERY ROLE – Now, on the horizon, there is the Piedmontese trip to Valenza: on Sunday 17 March (7 pm), in the province of Alessandria, Mozzato and his teammates will face the hosts Negrini Cte Acqui Terme. They occupy sixth position in the rankings, -5 behind the Belluno team, currently fourth: «It will be a tough match against a strong and complete team in any role. There are important points up for grabs: both for us and for them. Consequently, we have to push hard in training, show up at the meeting with a knife between our teeth and put on a good performance.” The central defender has no doubts: «If we work hard, we can get a lot of satisfaction at this end of the season».
