There is also a bit of Cisterna Volley in the blue masterpiece. In Bulgaria at the Under 17 World Championships, where our middle blocker, Jacopo Tosti, also appears on the roster that became champion. A great satisfaction for Cisterna Volley and Marino Pallavolo, in the “together we are stronger” project which led Jacopo Tosti himself to compete on a daily basis with the Super League athletes, continuing at the same time his growth path in the youth sector in Marino . A gold that gives value to the work carried out in symbiosis by the two companies, for the valorization of young talents.
Luca Leoni’s Azzurrini won the gold in a final fought to the last against Argentina of the same age, where Italy managed to overturn the initial deficit of two sets, becoming World Champion of the category at the end of an expedition that saw the young Italians impose their game on all their opponents. From the opening match in Cuba, won 3-1, in which Tosti scored 10 points, to the Tie Break win over Argentina 3-2, in which the center back who grew up in Marino scored 3 points, the Italy climbed to the highest roof of the podium.
Tosti concluded the competition with excellent numbers, after starting his summer at the Under 18 European Championships. Specifically, the Roman central defender scored 46 points (33 in attack, 7 blocks, 6 on serve), with 50% of efficiency in attack. The best match from a scoring point of view was against Puerto Rico, in the 3-0 success which saw Tosti score 11 points including 3 aces.
“In the space of a few days I experienced a swing of emotions – says the new World Champion Jacopo Tosti – Even when the final seemed lost at the end of the first two sets, we managed to find our game again and win a hard-fought match. As we demonstrated throughout the tournament, we were a compact team, who knew how to suffer and fight for every ball. Argentina is a great team, but we were determined and in the end the victory came. From the last point onwards it was a whirlwind of emotions, it’s an incredible success, I still have to fully realize what happened. We have demonstrated once again that we are a team capable of overcoming any difficulty.”
“If I had to say one quality of this team I would talk about determination – continues Tosti – Even in the darkest moments we managed to come out with the desire to win and make our game count. From the first match of the group there was no shortage of difficulties, I’m also thinking of the group win against Argentina 3-1.
