It’s never too late to make your A3 debut. The new signing of Negrini CTE Iacopo Botto knows this well and, despite his thirty-seven years, he still has a great desire to play and get involved in a championship that is new to him as he is used to higher categories.

After a career characterized by nine years in A1 (Cuneo 2005-2007, Monza 2014-2019, Piacenza 2019-21) and ten in A2 (Crema 2007-2009, Mantua 2009-2011, Segrate 2011/12, Monza 2012-2014, Cuneo 2021-24) of which the last three in Cuneo with the captain’s armband, the spiker from La Spezia has decided to answer the call of his former coach Michele Totire and embrace with him the ambitious project of Pallavolo La Bollente.

In his first interview, Acquese says: “I have had a wonderful career up until now which began in Cuneo with my debut in A1 in 2005 and where I then returned in the last three seasons to A2 after having toured a bit. But it’s not over yet, I still have enthusiasm, desire to play and I’m happy. When the Acqui Terme project was presented to me, I was immediately struck: I believe I can give a lot to this team, I’m physically well and I’m focused on achieving great goals again. Then, when Michele Totire, who I had already had in Mantua, called me, I couldn’t say no since I owe a large part of my career to him.”

In fact, speaking of the new coach from Acqui, Iacopo says: “Michele Totire was my coach in the two years in Mantua. I owe a large part of my career to him because when I injured my knee he was the only coach who believed in me and gave me the chance to return to the field and from there my second part of my career started again.”

The adventure with La Bollente Volleyball will represent a new beginning for Botto as it will be the first time in the A3 series: “Certainly facing a championship that I have never played can be a stimulus to continually get back into the game. The company is building a competitive team. I want to challenge myself in an ambitious project that I’m proud to be part of and I can’t wait to get started”

Speaking of objectives, however, the new spiker from Acqui declares: “The team’s objective will be to fight to get to the end. We will try to give our best from day one. I also personally have the goal of fighting until the last ball from the first day of training.”
