Magical moment for the red and white spiker Mattia Bottolo, at work in Cavalese together with another cook, the libero Fabio Balaso, with the Italian national team of Fefè De Giorgi. Fresh from great performances in the VNL 2024 and called up among the 15 Italians who from yesterday, Thursday 4 July, will face the pre-Olympic team, the winger from Cucine Lube Civitanova has been chosen as the poster boy for the red and white season ticket campaign (Gimme Five). An interesting year for him, given that he became the protagonist of a change of gear during the 2023/24 Regular Season and confirmed himself in excellent form with the Italy shirt. Precisely on the day of the call-ups for Cavalese, Bottolo made the following declarations.
Mattia Bottolo (Cucine Lube Civitanova):
“I’m going through a positive period. I worked hard with Lube and I’m working hard with the national team. It is not at all a given that things will go well in official matches, but in recent months I have managed to capitalize on the efforts and express myself at my best from a character and finishing point of view. It must also be said, however, that in the VNL quarter-final against France we were a bit unlucky at the tie break. Maybe we believed in it a little too much at 4-0 for us and I was disappointed that we only came close to reaching the Semi-finals. My upgrade? Since the end of January I have had much more field, what I needed, finding a good level. This allowed me to be ready for the most important phase of the season. At the moment I’m focused on the blue jersey because I want to give my best, but I can already say that I really like the Lube group that is taking shape. In the SuperLega Perugia and Trento are the teams to beat, but I am convinced that we will play good volleyball and give ourselves important moments, finding a balance and taking advantage of our hunger for victory. The first round will be the most difficult for us since we will have to try to find the balance, but with coach Giampaolo Medei we will come out on top game after game, I have positive feelings!”.
