An exciting match, as this Serie A2 season has accustomed us to since the beginning. And those who expected Cantù to give way to the league leaders had to think again, after a one-sided first set in which everything was done perfectly at the Yuasa Battery. But Pool Libertas wasn’t the one admired at that start, it couldn’t have been that one. And in fact from then on it was a whirlwind of emotions and reversals.
In the end, the hitherto undisputed queen of the championship prevailed, but she had to sweat the fateful seven shirts in two endless partials, the “tightest” ever played by the two teams since they faced each other in Serie A.
“We started with a good approach – says a visibly satisfied Ortenzi – we took to the court with an important attitude, we played a first set with incredible intensity on serve. Then Cantù remained in the piece, and we were the ones who complicated it in the second and third, we made a few too many mistakes in some rotations. Cantù has quality when serving and on high balls, there they did better than us, and the match became balanced.”
A match which at that point required great efforts to bring it home with the maximum margin: “We were good, with a great spirit of sacrifice we put ourselves there and with merit we built the break opportunities to recover.”
