Gianluca Galassi, middle blocker born in Trento, reigning world champion with the Italian national team, will wear the Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza shirt for the next three seasons. Born in 1997, 201 centimeters tall, Gianluca Galassi has worn the shirt of Vero Volley Monza for the last five seasons.

Gianluca Galassi played eight seasons in SuperLega and one in A2. In the top flight he played 258 matches of which 131 won: 1742 points scored by the central defender of which 1210 in attack, 143 aces, 389 blocks.

He was appointed Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in 2021 and in 2022 he received the Golden Collar of Sporting Merit.

At 15 he began his sporting career playing in the youth sector of Trentino Volley where he remained until 2015, participating in the Serie C and Serie B1 championships and winning 2 Junior Leagues (2014, 2015), 2 Italian Under 19 championships (2014, 2015 being MVP in both years), 1 Italian Under 17 championship (2013), 1 Italian Under 16 championship (2012) and 1 Regions Trophy in 2012.

In the 2015-2016 season he was loaned to Club Italia and played in the A2 championship before moving to Milan in the SuperLega the following season where he remained for two years.

New shirt in the 2018-2019 season: joins the Sir Safety Perugia roster and wins the Italian Cup. In the following season he moved to Monza where he remained for five years, winning a Cev Cup (2021-2022). In the last season he played in the Italian Cup final and the Scudetto final as well as the Challenge Cup final.

In the national team, Gianluca Galassi was called up to the senior team in 2019 after playing in the youth teams. In 2015 he wore the shirt of the Italian Under 19 national team with which he won the silver medal at the European Championship, and in July of the same year he participated in the 8 Nations Tournament, winning the gold and bronze medals at the XIII European Youth Olympic Festival. Between August and September 2015 he participated in the Under 19 World Championship and the Under 21 World Championship. Between 2016 and 2017 he was part of the Under 20 and Under 21 national teams, playing the European Championship, where he was awarded as the best central defender, and also the Category World Championship.

With the senior national team he won the gold medal at the XXX Universiade in 2019 and at the 2021 European Championship and in 2022 he won another gold this time at the World Championship where he was also awarded as best central defender while in 2023 he wore the medal around his neck silver at the European Championship.
