Another very young athlete joins the Consar first team roster for the next A2 championship. This is the middle blocker Gabriele Mirabella, born in Catania on 4 January 2006, raised in the youth team of Saturnia Aci Castello, and in the last two seasons included in the ranks of Callipo Vibo Valentia. In the recently concluded season he showed off himself in the Serie B championship. “It was a good experience, in which we had a lot of fun as a team – explains the 18-year-old Sicilian central defender – and in which I believe I made some initial growth significant. In the first part of the season I averaged 8 points, in the second part I reached peaks of 17 points, thus reaping the fruits of my work in the gym. We set out to save ourselves, and we managed to do so by also finishing far from the relegation zone.”
“Grow even more and improve in all respects”: this is the objective that Mirabella will pursue in her experience in Ravenna, “where I arrived a few years after the first contact Bonitta had with me. At the time, three years ago, I didn’t feel like making this leap. Now, faced with Marco’s new survey, I have accepted: it is the right time. I feel like making this leap, because I think I have climbed that step necessary to be able to be in a category like A2″.
Mirabella joins a department made up of expert and seasoned players for the category: Canella, Copelli and Grottoli. “I know that I will be able to count on excellent advice every day and I know that I will find good teammates – he says confidently – and many guys who, like me, aim to grow and reach a higher level”.
In Ravenna, in addition to making her debut in A2, Mirabella will be able to complete her school career by enrolling in the last year of a sports-oriented scientific high school, which she has successfully attended so far.
With Mirabella, the Consar 2024/25 staff entrusted to coach Valentini is now on the verge of being completed: there are 13 registered players, four of which are confirmed.
