It’s official, Gabriele Maletto is a new Aurispa DelCar player. The middle blocker arrives from Virtus Fano and is fresh from the triumphant promotion to Serie A2.

Maletto, born in ’99 and 202 cm tall, made his debut in Serie C and B with Parella Torino, his hometown team, and then made the leap to A2 with Club Italia Roma and to A3 with Civitanova in the 2019/20 season. The following year he played for ViviBanca Torino in A3 and the following two years with Fano, until the victorious season just ended.

“As regards the negotiation – explains Maletto – the thing that mainly convinced me was the strong interest of sporting director Antonio Scarascia and of the whole club, but also the fact that a team capable of fighting for positions is being built high in the standings and, perhaps, to also do something good in the playoffs.”

I know Salento well – specifies the centre-back – because I have been there on holiday several times and it is a fantastic land, I have never lived there and I am very curious about playing a season with Aurispa DelCar. I am very happy to start this new adventure, for me it will be a new beginning and I am very excited.”

Regarding the team and personal objectives, Maletto reveals: “Obviously the main objective is to do the best possible and try to reach the playoffs, however on a personal level, I hope to continue to confirm myself as a blocking centre-back, where I have always well disengaged.”

With this further officiality at Aurispa DelCar, therefore, the roster available to coach Tonino Cavalera for the next season begins to take shape, thanks to the work of coach Antonio Scarascia who, between reconfirmations and new additions, is building an increasingly competitive team.

To the reconfirmations of Deserio, Mazzone and Ferrini, there are additions to the new setters Giani and D’Alba and the latest arrival, in chronological order, of Gabriele Maletto.
