In the 2024-2025 roster of Gabbiano Mantova, which is gradually taking more and more shape, there is an important return: that of Mattia Catellani, who after his experience in Serie B in the 2022/2023 season, will join the very confirmed Niccolò Depalma, born in 2002 for 195 centimetres, in the control room.
Born in 1999 and 188 centimeters tall, a native of Reggio Emilia, Catellani is back from a year in Serie A2 with the Conad Reggio Emilia shirt, during which he made sixteen appearances: «I am very happy to return to Mantua – explains Mattia – after the experience in Serie B two years ago. I know several players from the current squad, my former teammates, and also some of the guys who have arrived in recent weeks. A high-level championship awaits us, where it will be important to reach the safety quota as soon as possible and then try to gain some satisfaction, as the team has done over the last year. On a technical level, I am a setter who loves to vary the game, so as not to provide points of reference to the opponents, and to make all my teammates crush.”
Having blossomed in the youth sector of Modena Volley, Catellani had his first high-level experience in Brescia, in 2018/2019, in Serie A2. Then, from the following year, the return “to base” in Reggio Emilia, again in A2, with the victory of the championship and Italian Cup in the 2021/2022 season. In 2022/2023, as mentioned, the first experience in Mantua, before returning to Reggio last year, with a tournament finished in eleventh position.
Meanwhile, we are also proceeding with the renewals, and this time, in addition to Depalma, it is the turn of the central department. Confirmation as a whole for Andrea Miselli, Jacopo Ferrari, Luca Tauletta and Matteo Zanini, ready to battle again in the center of the net.
Ferrari, a native of Reggio Emilia, born in 1998, 202 centimeters tall, will be in his third year wearing the blue and white jersey. Miselli, also from Reggio Emilia, born in 1994 at 194 centimetres, will be in his fourth season, while Zanini from Verona, born in 1994 at 200 centimetres, will reach his fifth year in Mantua. Tauletta completes the department, born in 2003 for 201 centimetres, in his second year wearing the Gabbiano shirt.
