First transfer announcement and first act of the re-foundation for the Delta Group Porto Viro, which entrusts the management keys to the talented Filippo Santambrogio, last year at Farmitalia Catania in the SuperLega.
Born in 1999 (he turned 25 a few weeks ago), 181 centimeters tall, the Milanese setter has the ideal profile to lead the black and fuchsia “new course” on the field: he is young but already expert, given the over 120 appearances in the championships of Serie A Credem Banca, A2 included.
“I had no hesitations when the club presented the new project to me – these are Santambrogio’s first words as a Delta Group player – We faced each other many times on the pitch as opponents and I was always struck by the professionalism and energy that one feels when playing Porto Viro. I thank the staff for trusting me, for allowing me to express myself at these levels and leading a young team but with great potential and the desire to do well.”
Santambrogio developed his volleyball career in the Lube and Diavoli di Rosa di Brugherio nurseries. Italian Under 18 Champion in 2017 (with Lube) and elected best setter for two years in a row (2017 and 2018) during the U18 and U20 National Finals, he was called up several times to the Italian youth selections. The first experiences in the senior championships are in Serie B, in 2016/2017 with Paoloni Appignano and from 2017 to 2019 at Gamma Chimica Brugherio, a two-year period culminating with the jump in category. After leading the Diavoli Rosa in A3 for two seasons, in 2021/2022 he received the call from Castellana Grotte to Serie A2. In 2022/2023 he moved to Reggio Emilia, again in A2, before taking flight towards the SuperLega.
“The season in A1 taught me a lot – says Santambrogio – I had the opportunity to train and compare myself with great champions and to put their experience in my baggage. I feel that I can still improve and learn a lot, and I believe that here in Porto Viro there is both the right environment and staff for this.”
The new director of Delta Group returns to A2 after stints with Castellana and Reggio Emilia. And he knows that there will be a difficult but very attractive challenge waiting for him: “The next championship will certainly be of a high level, many teams have set up rosters with important names who boast several years in the Super League. Our goal will be to fight for every ball in order to grow and develop a high-level game. I am sure that in this way we will be able to obtain a lot of satisfaction.”
