In the first Semi-final of the Del Monte® Coppa Italia Serie A3 the hosts Smartsystem Fano beat the top seed Gabbiano Mantova 1-3, thus gaining the pass for the Final, scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at 6.00 pm, at the Palasport Allende in Fano. After winning the first set 22-25 and the second 21-25, the Fano team suffered the return of Mantova, which took control of the game and reopened the match by winning the third set 25-23. Balance on the court for a good part of the fourth and decisive set, but in the end Smartsystem wins 20-25, taking advantage of the home advantage. Fano is therefore waiting to know the name of the second finalist, who will emerge from the match between Monge Gerbaudo Savigliano and OmiFer Palmi.
Mantova on the pitch with Martinelli in the control room opposite Novello, in the squad there are Yordanov and Parolari, in the center Ferrari and Miselli, the libero is Catellani. On the other side of the net, Fano deploys the setter-opposite diagonal composed of Partenio and Dimitrov, the spikers are Roberti and Merlo, the central players Maletto and Focosi, the libero is Raffa.
Study phase starting, with the two teams keeping the score balanced. Fano finds the first break at 4-6, the result of a winning block, but Maletto’s out attack brings the result back to parity (8-8). Focosi’s block allows Smartsystem to sprint again at 11-14, Mantova however closes the gap to 19-20 and impacts at 20 with Novello’s winning hand-out. In the final, Fano once again tries to escape with Roberti (21-23), then Merlo takes care of closing the score at 22-25, giving the Marche team a 0-1 lead in the sets.
Very high pace already at the start of the second set, where the first escape attempt is again by Smartsystem, who leads 5-8 (winning block by Maletto). Gabbiano did not give up and took advantage of a good turn of service from Scaltriti and immediately regained parity (9-9), then surpassed 11-10 with a block from Yordanov. Fano, however, seems to have something more and achieves a break of 0-5, flying to 14-18 (ace by Merlo). In the final Gabbiano closes the gap to 21-23, but the gap is now too wide and Smartsystem can take the set with a score of 21-25.
Mantova redeems itself in the third set, taking the lead 7-4 and extending 9-5 with Yordanov. Focosi’s ace makes Fano -2 (12-10), but Gabbiano repels the attack by replying with a winning serve from Yordanov (14-10).
