After the victory at the PalaPanini against Valsa Group Modena, Cisterna Volley is back to work to prepare for the home match against Gioiella Prisma Taranto, scheduled for Saturday at 8.30pm at the Palasport in Viale delle Provincie. The direct clash against the Ionian team will be the penultimate match of November for the Pontini team.
THE TEAM – La Gioiella Prisma Taranto is aiming high for its fourth consecutive season in SuperLega Credem Banca. After the historic salvation achieved in March, the club entrusted the bench to Dante Boninfante, supported by Samuele Papi and Danilo Paglialunga. Among the well-known faces of last season, those of Aimone Alletti, a pillar in the centre, and the new captain Filippo Lanza, in his second year in Taranto, stand out. Among those confirmed also the libero Marco Rizzo and the young Apulian players Davide Luzzi and Luca Paglialunga. In this first segment of the season the best scorers of the collective are two new arrivals. This is the opposite Fabrizio Gironi, at 95 points, followed just one point behind the spiker Brodie Hofer with 94 points on the scoresheet.
THE CHAMPIONSHIP-Taranto, ninth in the standings and just one point behind Cisterna, comes from a 3-0 defeat against the Italian champions Sir Susa Vim Perugia at PalaMazzola, where Brodie Hofer scored 13 points. However, the start of the Ionian team was encouraging, with a 3-0 victory against Allianz Milano. After three defeats against Trento, Padova and Piacenza, Taranto found success again by beating Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina 3-1. Away from home, Boninfante’s team only collected one point, while the two victories came on their own pitch.
