Tomorrow afternoon Emma Villas Siena returns to play a test match: it will do so at the PalaEstra and on this occasion the Sienese team will face the American team from UCLA University. The joint training will start at 5.30 pm in the sports hall in Viale Sclavo. It will be a spectacular and fascinating challenge, given that the American college usually trains many high-level volleyball players.
Emma Villas Siena arrives at this event after the test match played yesterday afternoon in the Marche against Banca Macerata, a match that ended with a 2-2 result. The contribution of Gabriele Nelli, author of 19 points, and Matteo Alpini, who put down 17 balls, was very good. Claudio Cattaneo also reached double figures, 10 points for him. The Sienese went behind twice, but were able to come back and recover until the final draw was 2-2.
“We know that we have many things we need to work on – was the comment of Emma Villas Siena spiker, Claudio Cattaneo. – We need to raise our pace of play. But we also saw positive things, we recovered from a disadvantage twice and we also did well in batting. Now a good test awaits us given that Ucla University is a quality and very physical team, the level on the pitch will certainly be very high. Arriving at the weekend tournament with two important friendlies behind us will make us understand our level of form and will show us what our state is: in Alba Adriatica we will have to fight against teams from our championship”.
It was therefore another good test match for coach Gianluca Graziosi’s team as they approached the start of the championship.
