The 2023/2024 season ends here for Conad Reggio Emilia, losing 3-1 in Brescia and being eliminated from the Del Monte Coppa Italia.
After being saved in the last home match against Brescia, Reggio rightfully enters the round of 16 of the Del Monte Coppa Italia, against Brescia themselves. After losing away, Fanuli’s team overturns the result and takes the Toucans to game 3 by winning at home, making them the only team capable of competing on equal terms with one of the teams ranked in the top half at the end of the Regular Season. Unfortunately, however, Consoli Sferc shatters the dream of a second Cup for Volley Tricolore, as it wins 3-1 at the San Filippo Sports Center on Sunday 28 April, thus marking the end of the Giallorossi season, which will resume next year again in Serie A2.
Now it’s transfer time for the Reggio Emilia team, but before seeing what’s cooking, Fabio Fanuli, Conad’s first coach, comments on the last match of the season and takes stock of the year just ended: “We sold the team dearly skin in this series, this in my opinion is the positive side. As for this evening, we expected great service pressure from them and so it was: they conditioned us in the first two sets, then in the third we found many important shifts thanks to Guerrini and we took him home. In the fourth set we lacked a bit more clarity.
The season was long, intense. We went through very complex moments, but as I always said during the year, what distinguished us was that we were united even in difficulties. We have always come together to try to come out of it as a team and credit for this must be given to the boys, the staff and the club. We have always rowed in the same direction and this is an important value, regardless of the sporting result.”
