The preparation of the Block Devils present in Pian di Massiano continues where, since last Thursday 1st August, they have returned to work in view of the start of the new season which will open on 29 September with Perugia’s home match against Verona. Also this morning the boys, followed by the athletic trainer Sebastian Carotti and his staff, underwent a physical work session in the weight room and in the afternoon they returned to training on the taralex under the orders of Angelo Lorenzetti. Muscle strengthening, in this first phase of preparation, is very important, as underlined by Massimo Colaci, the Juventus libero who will play his eighth consecutive season in Perugia this year.

«In this period we work a lot in the weight room and on putting strength and explosiveness in the legs. It’s the right period, but we also have the opportunity, thanks to the help of the boys from Serie B, to train well on the pitch, including technically. With Angelo the preparation is a little different, in the sense that from the first day we also work on the team, on reception – attack. With other coaches you usually do a little more technique, you try to focus more on personal aspects such as bagher or dribbling and after a few days you put everything together. With Angelo, on the other hand, we immediately get into team play and I really like it because you get into the rhythm straight away. Maybe you have some physical difficulties because naturally (at the beginning of the season) there are some inaccuracies, your legs don’t respond as you would like, but as they should in this period. We already have a good level.”

Max Colaci and his personal best: eighth season in the Sir shirt

«The years have passed, I am very happy: from the first day in Perugia I felt very comfortable and I have always said it, repeated it, reiterated it. My hope is to be able to conclude my career here in Perugia. I am very happy with what I have done in general in my career and with what I have experienced, am experiencing and hope to continue living here in Perugia. I thank the club for the trust it has given me over the years, but we have another important year, it will be difficult as usual: it is the beauty of our championship and we always start again with great enthusiasm because I believe the team can still be a great team squad. The goal is to become “the best” again, this year too; it will be complicated because there are many teams that have changed a lot, but there are some that have remained very stable and compact, I’m referring to Trento in particular.
