The strong and popular “La Rinascita Lagonegro” was beaten in the tie-break, a success that exploded the PalaCalafiore, the large Reggio facility that appeared festive, organized and successful.
Captain Domenico Laganà analyzed the match won against the Lucanians like this:
“The one who made the least mistakes won this long and exciting challenge. In some ways it was a heavy team from the point of view of energy expenditure.
In the first set we gave away “something”, 4-5 errors that cost us a lot. We lost 19-25.
In the second and third sets we played very well as a team, with the strength of our collective. In the fourth set we were playing great but one or two balls make you lose the set, it’s a very tight championship, we’re one hundred percent aware of it. We were very good at not giving up and taking the game home because the victory was more important than the point lost.”
And the people of Reggio Calabria?: “A beautiful audience, a fairytale setting. The matches are more exciting than last year, without taking anything away from the Serie B championship.
