Delta Group Porto Viro also fills the second setter’s slot with the signing of Pietro Ghirardi, director born in 2005, 196 centimeters tall, leaving Consoli Sferc Brescia.

Although very young, the black and fuchsia new signing has been breathing the air of Serie A2 Credem Banca for some years now. Having grown up in the youth team of Atlantide Brescia, his hometown team, starting from 2019 he was called up with some regularity to the first team as third setter, also managing to make his debut in the cadet championship. In 2021/2022 Ghirardi went to cut his teeth at Valtrompia Volley in Serie B, the following season he returned to Atlantide, where he divided his time between Under 19, Serie C and Serie A2, then, in the summer of 2023, the official promotion to first team as assistant to the veteran Tiberti: the year ended with a handful of appearances and two trophies in the trophy cabinet, the Italian Cup (won after eliminating Porto Viro in the semi-final) and the A2 Super Cup.

Ghirardi’s first words as a Delta Group player are sweet: “First of all I want to thank the club and the staff for the opportunity they have offered me. In recent years I have often had the opportunity to meet Porto Viro as an opponent, and the team and the club have always conveyed to me the idea of great professionalism and seriousness. Those who played here spoke very well to me about this reality, furthermore, I immediately felt convinced and involved in this year’s project. We are a young team but I think we are of great value and coach Morato is a very good coach who will be able to manage and train us in the best possible way. For me it will be the first experience away from home and I believe that I have found the perfect environment to face this new path. I was welcomed with open arms and I am truly happy to become part of the nerofuchsia family.”

Ghirardi will treasure the experience gained as Brescia’s second setter: “I was lucky enough to train with many champions and among these Simone Tiberti, one of the best setter in the category, who has always been a point of reference for me. I observed, studied and listened to him in every training session, trying to learn as much as possible. In a difficult championship like that of the A2, the role of the setters is crucial, we can make the difference in managing the different moments of the match and our attackers, we are the brains of the team and every action passes through our hands.
