New entry in the technical staff of Delta Group Porto Viro, which entrusts Daniele Battocchio with the role of assistant coach for the next season of Serie A2 Credem Banca. Originally from Rovigo, 40 years old in a few days and – just to clarify – no family ties with the namesake Matteo, former black fuchsia coach, Battocchio will divide his time between the first team and the youth sector: in addition to joining Morato and Zambonin on the Delta Group bench, he will lead the men’s U14 and U17 teams (in collaboration with Adria Volley) and the group that will compete in the women’s First or Second Division championship (at the moment the possible repechage following last season’s third place has not yet been made official).
“I accepted Delta’s offer because I consider it an important opportunity to learn, both through daily discussion with the staff and by closely observing the world of professionalism – says Battocchio in his first days in Porto Viro – There are many aspects which I am interested in learning more about, athletic preparation, the study of training and competitions, the daily management of the players. As regards commitment to youth, however, I am attracted by the possibility of building a path together with the boys and girls that I will follow and seeing how far we can go, taking care of the physical and technical part but also paying great attention to the mental aspects of the game (as well as being a volleyball coach, he is a sports mental coach, ed.). The three groups entrusted to me are from similar years, this will allow me to have a certain continuity in the work project. Of course, with the feminine I start a little further, given my previous experiences”.
In love with volleyball since adolescence, at 24 Battocchio left volleyball for study reasons. It’s just a “goodbye”, having concluded his academic and professional career as an ecologist, which took him all over Italy, he decides to move closer to home and embark on a career as a coach. In 2016 he joined the technical staff of the Polisportiva San Pio
