Clear victory in the morning for the Italian national team, which beat Egypt 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-20) and takes a decisive step forward towards the Quarter Finals. This is the second success for the team coached by Ferdinando De Giorgi at the Paris Olympic Games after the one obtained in four sets against Brazil in the early afternoon of Saturday.
Against the least accredited opponent for progressing to the round, still stuck with zero points in Pool B, Italy proved to be in control throughout the match, while the North African team coached by Benitez never managed to create any particular problems to the national team nor to seriously question the result. Double figures for all three Italian side players: Romanò and Lavia finished with 14 points and Michieletto with 11.
The Azzurri’s last match in the group stage is scheduled for Saturday 3 August, at 5pm, against Poland.
