The 3-0 in the Final at the Palasport in Cuneo handed the first Del Monte® Coppa Italia Serie A2 in the history of the Brescia club to the hands of Consoli Sferc Brescia and its coach Roberto Zambonardi. The team captained by Simone Tiberti, Del Monte® MVP of the Final, got the better of Marco Bonitta’s Consar Ravenna, which reached the final act after overcoming Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina, while Brescia got the better of Delta Group Porto Viro.
For Consoli Sferc this is the first trophy in its history. Second personal success in the competition for Tiberti and Riccardo Cominetti, who had raised the Del Monte® Coppa Italia Serie A2 to the sky two seasons ago with the Reggio Emilia shirt, coincidentally always inside the Cuneo Palasport.
Below are the celebrations and the words of the protagonists after the victory in the Final Four, in the week leading up to the Del Monte® Supercoppa A2 which will see the hosts Yuasa Battery compete on Sunday at 7.00 pm (with live broadcast from Sky Sport Max and VBTV). Grottazzolina, qualified by virtue of the victory in the Play Offs, and Consoli Sferc Brescia, as winners of the Italian Cup.
Simone Tiberti (Consoli Sferc Brescia): “We did it. It was a tough two days for me from a physical point of view. I thank our physiotherapist Simone Cinelli and the company that with Roberto Zambonardi goes out of their way to reach these levels. I also thank my teammates who helped me so much on the pitch and our fans who came to support us. The dedication goes to my dad, who would have had a lot of fun.”
Niels Klapwijk (Consoli Sferc Brescia): “I’m happy because it was a really good match. It’s fantastic to win the Cup with this group, because they worked hard and also had difficult moments, but it’s a special group that deserved the award, because we led the race from first to last point.”
Roberto Zambonardi (Coach Consoli Sferc Brescia): “A prestigious victory strongly desired by the boys who played a great game in all fundamentals in Cuneo. A great satisfaction for us, the fans and our city. The hope is that it is a starting point towards new ambitious goals.”
