Coach Chicco Blengini analyses the phase of the season at home Cucine Lube Civitanova after the victory in Sicily over Farmitalia Catania and awaiting the ‘classic’ against Valsa Group Modena, a match on Sunday 4 February (6pm) in which Osmany Juantorena will return for the first time as a rival on the Eurosuole Forum field. The ten-day break between races, as already underlined by the athletic trainer Max Merazzi, can serve to calibrate the engine of the red and white custom-built car well.
Gianlorenzo Blengini (coach):
“December and January were two very intense months in terms of commitments. The team had little rest in terms of official appointments, while travel and the sequence of matches on the calendar prevented the group from continuing their work. We will try to make the most of these ten days to add something from the point of view of physical preparation, but also on the technical front to progress in the aspects in which steps forward are needed and thinking more broadly between now and the rest of the season. At the Play Offs we will have to be performing. We come from the victory in Catania, a match in which we took two points. I never dwell on what happens on the other pitches, even if at the end of the day the defeats of our direct rivals should be taken into consideration. What really matters, regardless of the points taken, it is the victory. In a category like the SuperLega there is little point in underlining the positive aspects when you lose, just as it is unfair to focus on the defects after victories. We always want to improve, but our championship is very difficult and balanced. Overcoming your opponents is important even when you don’t produce your best performance. The match against Catania highlighted aspects to improve, certainly not from a mental point of view towards rivals, but due to the tendency to try to manage the match by making little mistakes. You can’t play without risk! Nobody lets you do that, not even those at the bottom of the league. This should not be understood as a stain on our victory, but must serve as an inspiration to prevent it from happening again.
