The BigMat Under 19 men’s national finals, which are attracting the attention of athletes in the Tuscan-Umbrian Upper Tiber Valley, organized by the Federation, Pallavolo San Giustino and Centro Coni, have issued their first verdicts at the end of the 30 matches of the preliminary phase held on Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th May in the five facilities of the area hosting the same four groups. There was also good participation from the public, not forgetting the accompanying supporters who brought the various teams and who also had the opportunity to experience a pleasant interlude as tourists in the places of significant artistic and cultural value indicated in the specially created leaflet. And now, the summary of what happened on the field. In group A, that of the San Giustino sports hall, Cucine Lube Civitanova finished with full points despite the interesting duel with the Lombardy side Powervolley Diavoli, overcome 3-1 in the direct clash but with the two decisive sets won with advantages. Redemption of Lombardy in group B, in Città di Castello, thanks to Vero Volley Assiplan, who defeated the hosts Sir Safety Perugia, beaten with a rather clear 3-0 in the match that later proved decisive. Kione Padova, on the other hand, is the “queen” of group C (Selci Lama facility), which in the play-off match for first place with Etruria Tuscania first went down, then responded with a 3-1 which guaranteed the passage of the turn. From group D, that of Sansepolcro, Volley Parella Torino qualified, having demonstrated its superiority with the final 3-0 against the only opponent capable of hindering it, Colombo Genoa. Finally, the PalaFemac of Trestina promoted the Lupi di Santa Croce sull’Arno with a score of 3-0, who only on one occasion allowed their opponents to exceed 20 points in a single set. Per 15 squadre, dunque, l’avventura è finita qui, come per il PalaFemac di Trestina, che esce di scena. Le cinque qualificate si affrontano ora giovedì 16 e nella mattinata di venerdì 17 maggio assieme alle 7 promosse di diritto alla seconda fase. Le 12 squadre in totale vengono suddivise in 4 gironi da 3 ciascuna; le prime due classificate passano ai quarti di finale. Ecco i nuovi raggruppamenti

“Tutto sta procedendo secondo gli auspici di partenza – ha commentato questa prima parte delle finali nazionali Agostino Benedetti, consigliere del Comitato Regionale Umbro della Federazione Italiana Pallavolo e delegato alla manifestazione – per cui stiamo vivendo al meglio questa settimana che vede l’Alta Valle del Tevere tosco-umbra, con assieme la vicina Sansepolcro, svolgere il ruolo di “capitale” del volley giovanile nazionale. Siamo soddisfatti anche per la risposta del pubblico e sul piano qualitativo stiamo assistendo a gare di livello elevato, con diversi giocatori capaci di porsi all’attenzione degli addetti ai lavori. Il bello deve ancora venire e di qui a domenica prossima potremo davvero ammirare lo spettacolo che la pallavolo riesce a offrire anche in ambito giovanile”.
