Born in Nice in 1998, Benjamin Diez will be the new libero of the team led by coach Jacopo Cuttini for the 2024_25 SuperLega season. “I’m really excited to arrive in Padua, to meet my future teammates and all the staff, and to discover the Italian Super League and life in Italy,” began the French libero.
Benjamin Diez began his sporting career in the youth categories of the Center National de Volley-Ball, and then played for AS Cannes from 2016 to 2018. Subsequently, he wore the Montpellier UC shirt for two seasons, before moving to Switzerland with Chênois Genève VB, where he won the Swiss championship in the 2020/21 season.
Diez returned to France in 2021, playing for Paris Volley and then Tours Volley-Ball, with whom he won both the French Championship and the French Cup in the 2022/23 season. Last season saw him defend the colors of the Polish team PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów. Furthermore, he has represented France in some international competitions, winning the bronze medal in the 2021 Volleyball Nations League and gold medals in 2022 and 2024.
Regarding his arrival in the Padua capital, he added: “What I expect from the SuperLega are, without a doubt, many exciting matches to play, as well as several difficult matches that we will have to face and where we will have to fight hard to obtain a good result, and finally , obviously, the greatest number of victories possible.”
Referring to the objectives for next season, Benjamin Diez then concluded. “My goal for this Championship will be to do my best to help the team achieve team goals and bring the best volleyball possible to the field. I think Padua can help me show the best version of myself! Obviously it will be easier to talk when we start the pre-season and the season itself, but that’s for now and I can say I can’t wait to get started!”
