Belluno Volley has gathered: at the Spes Arena, the rhinos have officially started their journey in the 2024-2025 season. And president Sandro Da Rold is already excited: «We have a very high level roster and this gives me confidence. It is not known who the starters are and who will start on the second line.” The ambition is tangible: «We are very determined, the club has made some important decisions. In this sense, the management staff, as well as the technical staff, has been reorganized: not because whoever was there before hadn’t done a good job, but because we intend to raise the bar further.” At the same time, however, the top manager takes pressure off the environment: “We aim to go to A2, but the jump in category must not become a nightmare.”
Coach Matteo De Cecco, who was entrusted with the technical guidance, has recently returned from Paris, where he had the Olympic experience as second coach of the Slovenian national team: «We are talking about a volleyball professional, who frequents deep teams and athletes thickness – continues Da Rold -. Almost icons, for those who follow them on TV. It can bring relevant experiences, but also knowledge and strategies that are difficult to find elsewhere. With De Cecco the kids can only grow.”
The architect of the team is the sporting director, Alessandro Carniel «We have improved what was already there, because it should not be forgotten that, last season, Belluno Volley reached the playoff semi-finals. We managed to strengthen the spikers’ department, the centrals’ department and added a libero. In fact, we have two lineups: the roster is complete. And we hope it will represent the extra gear to achieve the set objectives.”
Vice president Andrea Gallina, however, emphasizes an aspect of absolute importance: «The current team is the result of the credibility we have acquired in recent years. Belluno has become a place where A2 athletes can also arrive. They know that here they find a serious, as well as ambitious, company.” The other deputy, Stefano Da Rold, looks up towards the stands: «We will be able to rely on great players. And on a large audience. We wanted to reward our fans in some way and, not surprisingly, we facilitated the creation of an organized group of supporters who could identify with these colours: the “Rhinos”. I hope there are many, especially if we consider the calls received in the last few days.”
