The second line of Gabbiano Mantova has a new owner: the very young libero Andrea Marini arrives from Gamma Chimica Brugherio, who will take the place left by Luca Catellani, who moved to Stadium Mirandola.
Born in 2005 and 175 centimeters tall, Marini already has three seasons under his belt in Serie A3 Credem Banca, with 52 appearances and almost 200 sets played. In between also an experience in Serie B with the Powervolley Milano shirt. In the last two years Marini has been a certainty for the Milanese team, one of the best nurseries at a national level, always capable of training young people with excellent prospects.
«This is the case of Andrea – explains sporting director Nicola Artoni – who it is no coincidence that we had been eyeing him since the fifth first leg of the last championship, when we found him in front of us for the first time. The impression was excellent, and we are very satisfied to be able to count on him this year. He is a player with enormous margins for improvement, who we aim to develop more and more over the course of next season.”
Marini, a native of Carate Brianza, was also a protagonist in the latest edition of the Del Monte Junior League, the tournament that pits the best youth teams in Italy against each other. With his team, the young libero reached the semi-final, losing only at the tie break against Consar Ravenna, then the final winner of the tournament. Gamma Chimica Brugherio then defeated Mint Vero Volley Monza 3-2, thus placing themselves on the third step of the podium.
«It should not be forgotten – continues Artoni – that last May 19th, during the Under 19 national finals, Marini was named “Best libero” of the tournament, another prestigious recognition which does nothing but confirm the value of this boy, whom we welcome to Mantua.”
