The last glimpses of Brescia market for the 2024/2025 season are from the ‘red circle’, with Alessandro Tondo closing the circle around the blue and white middle blockers department.
Guest of the Campadelli brothers in the SFERC headquarters, the former Catania, Vibo and Piacenza champion made his intentions for this new Lombard adventure clear: “Every time in recent years I have returned to A2, I have done so for ambitious projects . Brescia is coming off an excellent season in which it achieved two great objectives, so now expectations will rise: we will do our best to try not to disappoint them, despite this year the category being one of the most balanced and strong in memory. Many teams are well organized and fearsome: I’m thinking of Siena, Cuneo, Ravenna, Prata and also Catania, the favorite on paper, which I believe will not be able to afford empty passes.
Personally, I will bring everything I possess technically and physically to the field and I will make the experience I have gained available to the group, which is certainly not lacking among the toucans. I meet players I met as opponents, such as Tiberti, Cavuto, Erati, Raffaelli and Cominetti and others with whom I have already had the opportunity to play such as Cargioli and Hoffer, people who share my same desire to win and to achieve the objectives that the club has in the viewfinder”.
Almost 33 years old, 202 cm, Tondo began his career in 2011 in the cadet championship in Reggio Emilia, where he remained for five years. His career soared in the six years spent between Milan – where he played as an opposite between 2017 and 2018 – and Piacenza, with whom, having returned to the centre… he achieved his first promotion in 2019. The Toucans met him in the quarter-finals Play offs that year and will then remain with the Emilian team for three seasons, gaining experience and experience in the top flight.
He returns to A2 with Vibo in 2022/2023 and is the protagonist of the promotion that earns him the job in Catania in the Super League – after the Sicilian association took over the rights from Vibo. In that same year he also won the Italian Cup (he had also won one with Piacenza) and the Super Cup.
