The sensational signing campaign of ShedirPharma Sorrento does not stop, with president Fabrizio Ruggiero capable of bringing one of the talents of the national volleyball scene into the green and white jersey. The journey starts almost 800 km from the coast, and precisely from the splendid Venetian town of Treviso. Having turned 23 in March, Alberto Pol, whose young career is full of titles and satisfactions, joins the ranks of place 4. The Treviso diamond has already made his debut in the Super League and Champions League among the ranks of Itas Trentino, in 2021/22 he shone in Porto Viro in A2, then in the following season he left Consar Ravenna, and then returned to his region native making himself available to HRK Motta di Livenza. Last championship saw Alberto Pol protagonist at BCC Tebus Castellana Grotte (4th season in a row in A2), scoring 223 points (already 676 overall in Serie A). Campania leads particularly well to place 4 born in 2001, given that their personal best score (22 points) was obtained on 6 December 2023, in the very tight match against Wow Green House Aversa won on tie-break after over 2 and a half hours of battle.
But it doesn’t end here, because Alberto Pol has already secured some prestigious titles with the national team shirt. 1 Under 19 World Championship in Tunis, then the Under 22 European Championship won in Tarnow (Poland) and gold again at the Universiade in Chengdu (China).
Alberto Pol can’t wait to feel the warm embrace of PalAtigliana, and set off again to achieve important goals together.
After the Under 19 World Cup won a few years ago, two other triumphs have recently arrived with the national team: the Under 22 European Championship in Poland, and the Universiade last year in China. What are the memories, the best anecdotes, and what emotion does it feel to play (and win) with the national team shirt?
“I would say that my best memory concerns the European Championship in Poland, having won it as a starter. A flash takes me back to the semi-final: eliminating the home team, in front of their audience in a packed stadium, was really very exciting. Defending the colors of Italy are always beautiful. I have had this dream since I was a child, and for me it was the culmination of an important journey.”
