The press conference to present Alberto Giuliani, the new coach of Modena Volley, was held this afternoon in the PalaPanini press room. In addition to the new yellow-blue coach, the President Giulia Gabana and the Sports Director Alberto Casadei were also present. Born in San Severino Marche, Giuliani returns to Italy after his experience in Piacenza from 2015 to 2018. In his coaching career, the coach from the Marche region has won three Italian championships, a Greek championship, three Italian super cups, an Italian cup, a Turkish Super Cup, a CEV Cup and a Challenge Cup. In the national team, however, he obtained the silver medal at the European Championships leading Slovenia in 2019 and 2021.
“It’s been a complicated month – begins Giulia Gabana – in the last few days we discussed things at length with the staff and management to find a solution and understand how to get out of this negative moment. When we realized that there was no longer any possibility of moving forward with Petrella we made a decision that was very painful. We believed in the three-year project launched this summer, we worked with a lot of enthusiasm, but some difficulties arose that we didn’t expect and this forced us to make a change of direction. I believe a lot in the team we have built, with better play and a different serenity on the pitch we can get back up. Francesco Petrella has competence, dedication, passion and has done everything he could, I wish him the best things for his professional career. The first time I spoke with Giuliani was yesterday afternoon, until the match against Padova there had never been the idea of a change of bench, after that defeat a succession of situations arose that led us to this choice. What pushed us to change were not the results, but the way in which the team performed on the pitch. Replacing the coach was the only great means at our disposal to shake things up and try to help the boys find greater serenity. We haven’t talked about next year with Alberto Giuliani yet, let’s start by thinking about the present. The team certainly has the desire to react, they are in difficulty at the moment but I think they have everything it takes to play a better game.”
“The choice of Alberto Giuliani came about in a short time – continues Alberto Casadei – when we decided to change technical leadership we thought of him, yesterday he came here to meet us and we presented our situation to him.
