Last of the first round, then Christmas. ABBA Pineto is preparing to return to the court a week after the important tie break victory (3-2) at the expense of Cuneo. Tomorrow (22 December, 6.00 pm) the white and blues will visit OmiFer Palmi in the match that will mark the turning point of the regular season, which is however destined to continue with two further rounds in 2024, respectively on 26 December at home against Macerata and on 29 December in Siena.

The calendar says first of all Palmi, a Calabrian team and new entry in the Serie A2 Credem Banca championship. At the bottom of the table with eight points collected – and eight less than Pineto – OmiFer is still a tough opponent. The recent market speaks clearly, which brought to Calabria, under the guidance of the Argentine coach Jorge Cannestracci, two important names: the Belgian spiker François Lecat and the setter Matteo Paris, the latter a well-known face at ABBA after two seasons – last in A2 as captain – and the conquest of the Italian Cup and Super Cup in the 2022/23 Serie A3 season.

At ABBA maximum concentration to extend a positive moment worth eight points in the last four matches, with successes against Ravenna (3-0), Reggio Emilia (3-1) and Cuneo (3-2) which contributed to leading Di Silvestre and teammates up to ninth position. Again with regards to numbers, it is worth mentioning the rise of Samuli Kaislasalo in the special ranking of points scored: there are 228, thanks to which the Finnish opposite number entered the top-5 of the A2 Series.
