Everything is ready for the Olympic debut of the Italian national team at the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad, which this year will be held in Paris: the Italian team, led by Ferdinando De Giorgi, after this evening’s opening ceremony (scheduled for 7.30 pm) will do the his debut at the Games challenging Brazil at 1.00 pm tomorrow, with live broadcast on Discovery, Dazn and Rai Sport.
Italy arrives at the Olympic event with many debutants among its ranks: there are eight athletes who will tread the prestigious Olympic fields for the first time, with only Giannelli, Sbertoli, Lavia, Michieletto and Galassi having had the opportunity, in past editions, to participate in the event. Evidence of this fact is the data relating to the average age of the Italian national team: 24 years and 9 months, which places it on the top step of the podium in the ranking of the youngest selections.
The precedents with the green and gold selection tell of 96 total matches, with 38 Italian victories and 58 defeats. Among the ranks of the Brazilian national team there are two players who will be protagonists in the Super League: Fernando Kreling ‘Cachopa’ will continue to dribble for Monza, Flavio has gone to strengthen the Trento roster.
