The Del Monte® Boy League Sunday opens with the success of Emmeti Clima Modena: the Emilian team beats Puliservice Acqua S.Bernardo Cuneo 2-0 in the 7th-8th Place Final. On the other field, at the same time, it is necessary to go to the tie-break: Sir Susa Vim Perugia comes from behind to win the match against Consar Ravenna and puts the medal for the 5th place around his neck.
The 1st/2nd Place Final, the highlight of the event, saw Gamma Chimica Brugherio triumph, finishing the competition thanks to a clear run, winning 2-0 against Cucine Lube Civitanova and triumphing in the Del Monte® Boy League for first time.
In front of a good crowd, inside the Pala Allende in Fano, Gamma Chimica Brugherio started off decidedly better, closing the first set at 25-19: among the highlights of the set was the extension to 14-9 with the attack Lube out and, subsequently, the 20-9 lead thanks to Branchesi’s winning attack. Set that ends up in the hands of Brugherio due to Civitanova’s attacking error.
In the second set, the one that gave the victory to the team led by Gianluca Cavaglieri, the Pink Devils immediately started off strong, finding themselves at 12-6 thanks to the attack of an unleashed Bergognoni. Civitanova tries to mend the gap (19-14, ace from Primerano), but Tragni’s attack and subsequently Bergognoni’s decisive point trigger a cry of joy from the many Brugherio fans who arrived in Fano. The Deputy Director of the Serie A Volleyball League, Yvonne Schlesinger, awarded Cucine Lube Civitanova, which placed second at the end of an applause-worthy journey. Brugherio was awarded by Massimo Righi, President of the Serie A Volleyball League.
After the last victory, that of 2019 by Itas Trentino, the Del Monte® Boy League thus finds a new owner after five years of absence.
