The press conference to present the Del Monte® Supercoppa Serie A2 took place this morning inside the Town Hall of Grottazzolina (FM), in view of the Final which will award the second title of the A2 season tomorrow, Sunday 19 May, to Palasport of Grottazzolina. The local authorities, the President of the Serie A Volleyball League Massimo Righi (he will in fact be in San Donà di Piave for Game 2 of the Serie A3 Play Offs), together with the coach and captain of the Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina, presented the event that will award, on the taraflex tricolor set up for the occasion, the 4th edition of the Serie A2 Super Cup.
For tomorrow’s event, the possibility has been confirmed for the 1st referee to communicate with the spectators via a special microphone: the match director will be able to decide as he wishes during the match to open his microphone and explain to those present at the arena and to the viewers any decisions made during the match.
Below are the statements of the authorities who intervened.
Alberto Antognozzi (Mayor of Grottazzolina): “First of all, I would like to congratulate Consoli Sferc Brescia for the victory of the Italian Cup at the end of the Final Four in Cuneo last weekend. Thanks to Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina we have taken a further step in an unforgettable year for the country, with the promotion to the SuperLega. I hope that tomorrow will be a great day of sport dedicated to respect and fair play. For our country it is a source of pride to be able to host such an event, it is a valorisation and promotion of our territory. Happy Del Monte® Supercoppa Serie A2 Final to everyone.”
Massimo Righi (President of the Serie A Volleyball League): “I’m sorry not to be present for such an important day for Grottazzolina, for Brescia and for Italian volleyball. A first thank you goes to the Mayor of Grottazzolina for his hospitality, who I am sure will be with us tomorrow. Opposite are two of the protagonists of the season just ended. We are sure that the show offered will be of the highest level, as we expect that the Grottazzolina Palasport will be sold out, another enormous satisfaction for all of us to witness a race with so much enthusiasm and warmth. The Serie A2 Credem Banca and the Del Monte® Supercoppa Serie A2 are among the most important events in the world of Volleyball, our Serie A2 is among the top 8-9 best championships in the world. Have fun and happy volleyball everyone!”.
Andrea Putzu (Regional Councillor): “In addition to sport, this is a moment of promotion of our Region and our province. We have decided, as a Region, to sponsor the event, which gives prestige to our territory and to a small municipality that will be in the Super League next year. A small municipality that has invested significantly in sport, demonstrating how the mayor cared. Best of luck to both teams.”
Fabio Franchini (President of FIPAV Marche): “Greetings to the authorities present. I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina company for the prestigious goal achieved in the last sports season. I also thank the Volleyball League for giving the club the opportunity to organize this important event.”
Yvonne Schlesinger (Deputy Director and Head of Events and Marketing of the Serie A Volleyball League): “We are often in the Marche region, and here in Grottazzolina in particular we came two years ago for the Del Monte® Supercoppa Serie A3. Thanks to everyone for the welcome, we know that there are institutions that are very close to our sport, which deserves the attention that is not always given to it. It will be a wonderful event, there are still some places available for tomorrow’s race. For us the season does not end here: thanks to the entire Lega structure that collaborates with the clubs and to the clubs themselves. Ahead of us is a season finale: the Boy League Final in Fano and followed by the Junior League Final in Bologna. Happy volleyball to everyone.”
Massimiliano Ortenzi (Coach Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina): “In these days, when the Italian pitch was being set up in Grottazzolina I thought ‘everything seems normal’. For me and the team, however, it is something extraordinary, getting this far must be a source of pride, it is necessary to stop and look at the entire journey made up to this moment. Tomorrow’s match will be, hopefully for some time, the last match in Grottazzolina. Playing these matches after having made the Play Off Final is complicated, physically and mentally. I think that tomorrow the boys will be able to take to the field to offer the best show possible. Tomorrow a circle closes: let’s hope it happens in the best way.”
