OmiFer Palmi wins the Final of the Del Monte® Coppa Italia Serie A3, overcoming Monge Gerbaudo Savigliano with the maximum margin. Coach Porcino’s team always seemed to be in control of the match, also thanks to a few too many errors in the Piedmont half of the field, as emerges from the individual scores: 20-25, 23-25, 20-25. In the Final the Calabrians will meet Smartsystem Fano, who beat Gabbiano Mantova 3-1 in the afternoon. The match is scheduled for tomorrow at 6.00 pm at the Palasport Allende in Fano.
Savigliano on the pitch with Pistolesi as setter, opposite to Rossato, the spikers are Galaverna and Brugiafreddo, the central players Rainero and Dutto, the liberos Gallo (in the receiving phase) and Rabbia (in the defense phase). Palmi responds with Cottarelli as director, opposite Stabrawa, Corrado and Carbone in the lineup, Maccarone and Gitto in the center, Donati as libero.
Savigliano starts off strong, immediately finding the +3 (7-4), then extending it 12-8 with Brugiafreddo. Palmi mends the gap, coming back into contact at 12-11 and grabbing the tie 16-16 with an ace from Rossato. The overtaking instead comes thanks to an excellent turn of service by Stabrawa, who with two consecutive aces puts the score at 18-19. Gitto from the center gives the set point to Palmi (20-24), and he is always the one to take advantage of it by finding the block that closes the partial 20-25.
Balance on the court in the second set, played point for point by the two teams, until the OmiFer break at 9-12 (winning attack by Stabrawa). Savigliano insists and immediately recovers the gap (12-12, the opponent’s attack is out), but Palmi escapes again with a block from Corrado on Rossato (13-16). Monge Gerbaudo tries everything and achieves parity again at 20 with Galaverna. The balance remains until the photo finish, when Stabrawa scores the 23-25, which gives Palmi the 0-2.
In the third set Savigliano continues to make mistakes and Palmi can immediately go ahead 2-5, extending 6-11 with Corrado. Galaverna tries to keep Monge Gerbaudo afloat (10-12), but Stabrawa continues to push the serve with three consecutive aces and OmiFer can fly to 10-16. Savigliano closes the gap again (15-18, Rossato’s attack winning), but in the final Palmi controls and takes the set with a score of 20-25.
