In the quarterfinals of the continental tournament, Cucine Lube Civitanova eliminates Halkbank Ankara with a victory in four sets (25-23, 20-25, 25-15, 25-23) in the return leg, which adds to the 3-1 the pirates scored a week ago in Turkey. Result that qualifies the red and whites for the match against the winner between Trentino Itas and Berlin, on the pitch today, Thursday 29 February, in the return match (3-0 for the Dolomites in the first leg). After three forced stops in the Quarterfinals (four if we also count the Semifinals reached, but canceled due to the pandemic in 2020 after the passage of the round against Roeselare) Cucine Lube Civitanova will return to play for the pass to reach the continental final, with the dream of his third Champions League. Gas Sales Daiko Piacenza’s Champions League adventure ends in the Quarter Finals. From a fiery Hala Widowiskowo – Sportowa the red and whites emerged defeated, Jastrzebski Wegiel conquered the Semifinals with a victory without giving up a set to the red and whites who had prevailed in the first leg at the tie break. Having lost the first set, Piacenza also had a four-point lead in the second half and a set point available before capitulating. And with the hosts ahead 2-0 everything became more difficult, the red and whites actually started to play the third set when they found themselves 20-12 down and the great comeback seemed to have been made at 21-20 but the Poles they found the winning move. Romanò’s thirteen points were not enough, too many errors in attack and serving, and the blocking was ineffective.
The first leg of the Semi-finals is scheduled between 12 and 14 March, while the return match will be played between 19 and 21.
