Itas Trentino is the Italian Champion for the fifth time. In the Scudetto Finals play-off, the team coached by Angelo Lorenzetti prevailed between the friendly walls in three sets (25-20, 25-20, 25-19) closing the series in style thanks to the winning sprints in the individual sets. The 10 winning blocks at 6 and the 9 aces at 1 made the difference for the hosts on the night of the BLM Group Arena. The top scorer is Michieletto with 17 points, while the title of Credem Banca MVP of the Finals goes to Kaziyski (fifth scudetto and MVP also in Game 1 and Game 3). In double figures for the red and white Nikolov (12) and Yant (11).
In the first set Trento starts off like a rocket in service and reception, building up a treasure trove of 5 points. Civitanova makes up for it twice and finds the hook on 19-19. In the sprint Itas churns out 2 blocks (5 in the partial) and the only ace of the set, by Lavia (8 points with 71%). Civitanova yields with two mistakes (25-20). Upon returning, the Marches start better, but are hooked on 12-12. Michieletto’s 8 points and the serve-reception balance allows the Trentino players (5 yellow-blue aces) to conquer the second set as well: the big players on the net and D’Heer from nine meters are decisive on 17-17. For a close set like the previous one, with Nikolov scoring 5 points like in the first, but more precise (25-20). In the third set Blengini gives space to Gottardo to limit the damage of the home serve, but the canvas does not change and Trento is crowned champion of Italy with the touch of Sbertoli for 25-19.
Before the Italian anthem, a thought of closeness and solidarity was addressed to the people who suffered the inconvenience of bad weather in the hours preceding the match, with some of the 200 fans in the away sector arriving very late (between the second and third sets) for road inconveniences always caused by weather conditions.
The hosts line up with Sbertoli in the control room and Kaziyski opposite, Lavia and Michieletto in the band, D’Heer and Podrascanin in the center, Laurenzano free.
For Lube, De Cecco is dribbling diagonally with Nikolov opposite, Bottolo and Yant in the band, Anzani and Chinenyeze in the center, Balaso libero.
At the start of the first set, Trento is enterprising in service and present on the block. After Sbertoli’s touch and Bottolo’s out attack, the hosts command 8-3. La Lube increases its aggression and gets closer after Nikolov’s attack and Chinenyeze’s block (13-10), to then move to -1 with the offensives of Yant and Nikolov (14-13). The teams save the ball with all their means, the block and the home defense bring the Gialloblù back ahead (18-14), but the red and white are back within reach with De Cecco’s block and Yant’s hands out (18- 17). The hook comes on an infringement by rivals (19-19). The Dolomites lock the wall twice and extend with the ace of Lavia (23-19). An error in the serve and a lightness in setting condemn Lube (25-20).
In the second part, Lube hits a more brilliant start and flies to +4 after a monstrous save by Balaso and a lash by Nikolov (4-8). The Trentino forcing limits the red and white advantage over D’Heer’s ace (10-11). Kaziyski’s draw also arrives from nine meters (12-12). You fight point by point with Blengini who calls a time out after a winning carom from Trento (17-16). On 17 all, once again the gialloblù start off against the block and extend with the ace from D’Heer (19-17). The tear becomes heavy (22-18). Sbertoli’s block closes the partial (25-20).
In the third set Gotthard earns a good playing time. On the pitch they fight alternating strength and cunning, as demonstrated by Chinenyeze’s first half (12-10). After an out attack by Nikolov (14-10) the Bulgarian gives way to Gabi Garcia. The serve continues to make a negative difference, but la Lube believes in Anzani’s attack (16-13). Garcia’s ace (Lube’s only one in the match, 17-15) pushes Lorenzetti into the time out, but on his return the shot on the net, the Trentino block and a red and white error complicate the situation (20-15). Bottolo returns by Gotthard. On the block by Podrascanin and the subsequent mistake by Yant (23-16) the hopes of a comeback fade. At the third set ball, in an anxious BLM Group Arena that was already looking forward to the decisive point, Sbertoli signs the touch of the Scudetto (25-19).

Ce lo siamo meritati, sono stati due anni fantastici con questo gruppo”.
Fabio Balaso (Cucine Lube Civitanova): “Ci credevamo, ci abbiamo sempre creduto pur sapendo che non sarebbe certamente stato facile. Loro hanno giocato una grande partita, mettendoci in grande difficoltà con la battuta e riuscendo a gestire meglio le palle più complicate in attacco. È un grande peccato, sicuramente, ma credo che non ci sia nulla da rimproverare alla nostra squadra, anzi voglio pubblicamente ringraziare tutti i miei compagni perché abbiamo fatto un grande percorso, raggiungendo una finale che in pochi, al di fuori di noi, si aspettavano”.
