In these weeks, between the Volleyball Nations League and the European League, many male and female athletes of the Vero Volley Consortium are protagonists on the field with their national teams in different parts of the world.
Starting with the women’s VNL which inaugurated these appointments and whose first week ended yesterday, Sunday 4 June; three players from the new Vero Volley Milano were present among Italy’s ranks, each of whom was involved in the four challenges staged in Antalya, Turkey: Beatrice Parrocchiale (33% in reception, 26 defenses) on the field in the first and fourth games; Adhuoljok Malual entered all four races, finishing with 6 points; Myriam Sylla used only in the match against the United States where she scored 16 points (43.2% in attack, 6 defenses). In the stars and stripes formation, the American Dana Rettke scored 27 points, including 4 blocks and 1 ace. Consortium captain Alessia Orro and Paola Egonu for Italy, Nika Daalderop for the Netherlands and Kara Bajema for the United States have not been summoned to these first appointments with the national teams. The French Helena Cazaute did not take the field in the European League.
Instead, the first week of the men’s VNL will start from tomorrow Tuesday 6 June until Saturday 10 June, where Gianluca Galassi will not be present in Ottawa (Canada) for Italy, World Champion. The challenge with hosts/teammates Stephen Maar, Arthur Szwarc and Eric Loeppky has therefore faded away while Fernando Kreling’s Brazil will be there. On the other side of the world, in Nagoya (JPN), in addition to Ran Takahashi’s Japan, Ibrahim Lawani’s France will be on the field.
In the European League, Petar Visic’s Croatia are chasing their first victory at the end of the first three away games, with the setter from Monza alternating in directing with Bernard Bakonji.
