Another match at PalaCatania, another demanding challenge on the path of Farmitalia Saturnia who tomorrow, Saturday 16 December at 6.00 pm, will take to the field against Valsa Group Modena Volley with the aim of scoring points and doing so together with their fans.
For the tenth day of the first round of the 2023/24 Credem Banca SuperLega Championship, the blue and whites are preparing to face the team that occupies sixth place in the standings, with 15 points and six victories behind them. Fresh from a 3-1 against Itas Trentino, Francesco Petrella’s team includes names and high-sounding faces of Italian volleyball starting from the spiker Osmany Juantorena, passing through the central players Dragan Stankovic and Anton Brehme, the setter Bruno Mossa De Rezende and the Russian hammer Maksim Sapozhkov, who will arrive in Catania together with other top seeds who will leave nothing to chance in their game.
The Etna players, having put aside last Sunday’s defeat against Mint Vero Volley Monza, returned to training at the beginning of this week to prepare for Saturday’s match and intensify their game system, as coach Cezar Douglas Silva says: “We started immediately well and we continued focusing on our characteristics in order to improve them step by step. We know that the challenge awaiting us will not be easy, the opponent is one of those who made the history of Italian and world volleyball, but we will look from our side of the field, working on understanding and giving value to what we know how to do . We are balanced in the ball exchange phase and in the last two games our serve has been more treacherous. By pushing on this fundamental we have the opportunity to create more difficulties in the opponent’s half of the field, to find more opportunities to counterattack.”
The objective remains one and captain Santi Orduna tells it: “The group is united and we are working to arrive at each match in the best conditions. We will face tomorrow’s match with the attitude with which we face a great final. Each of us knows we have to give our best and salvation is definitely within our reach. Now is the time to bring something home and we have all the potential to do so.”
