Tim Held from gold medal to Perugia

He is one of the golden men of the Italian university national team who conquered the most precious metal at the XXXI Universiade on Monday in Chengdu in China, beating Poland 3-0 in the final. He is one of those who will respond to Angelo Lorenzetti’s first call on August 21 in Perugia for the start of training with Sir Susa Vim Perugia. He’s one of those guys who, after his apprenticeship in A3 and A2, can’t wait to compete with the Italian Super League.
It’s Tim Held, new signing of the Block Devils and just returned with the gold medal around his neck from the triumphal blue expedition to China.
“It was a great experience and overall a great summer,” explains Held. “I tried to enjoy every single moment of the national team that I spent wearing the blue and the victory a few days ago at the Universiade was beautiful, the gold medal is a great thing. I had few opportunities in China and I tried to make the most of them, I was pleased to have been able to lend a hand to my teammates in a role that was not mine. The hope and also the goal are to be able to have other opportunities to wear the blue shirt in the future “.
Now for Tim a few days of well-deserved rest and then it will be time to pack for Perugia.
“I have some good memories of Perugia from when I was little and my dad used to play there. Getting to Perugia and the Superlega was my goal. I am someone who, due to my physical characteristics, has always had to work so hard to reach my goals, I am happy for the opportunity I have been given, my goal, and I will do everything to achieve it, is to lend a hand to the team. By training every day with great champions in practically all roles, I know that I will be able to learn and grow a lot. It is clear that the goal of all athletes is always to play, but in this respect I am absolutely in no hurry. What do I say if you say Lorenzetti? I answer that he is a great coach, good at managing and improving great teams. I had already known him since my days in Modena when I was in the youth team and I had had the opportunity to do some training with him in the first team. Hearing him this summer was a great pleasure, I can’t wait to start working with him as his player.”
