Today marks the end of the third complete week of work for the Ionian team who, still without three players, are calmly and with dedication carrying out all the stages of the path, first athletic and physical, then technical and tactical, which will lead them to be ready for the start of the season competition scheduled for October 22 at the PalaMazzola, with the first meeting with Rana Verona.

Coach Mastrangelo thus expresses himself on some key points of this journey, with some considerations that he has already been able to draw from observing and directing the team group on a daily basis, at the PalaMazzola, in the weights gym and during sessions in the swimming pool.

How are training going and what answers is this group giving you?

The training sessions are going as we had planned: we are paying a lot of attention to the physical part which is fundamental at the moment, trying to bring everyone to an optimal physical and technical level.

The group is responding very well, there is a lot of enthusiasm from everyone, both in the staff and in the kids and day after day our level of training and attitude grows, we discover and improve a little more: we are building a work mentality that will lead us to the best physical and optimal technical conditions ready for October 22nd.

In the next few weeks you will further test the level of the team also with some official tournaments (Corigliano and Gubbio). What will your work be based on?

The work will continue with consistency and continuity for all aspects of our game. From the next tests we will begin to verify our starting points and we will take advantage of the tournaments by measuring ourselves against opponents to verify our level and take stock of our work. We will soon understand what to work on a little more and the aspects on which to focus better.

Do you think that the three athletes still involved with their respective national teams (the Americans Russell and Jendryk and the Cuban Gutierrez) will be able to integrate with the group immediately?

Of course no one has a magic wand, we leave the magic to others, we know very well that the integration of these athletes is a process that takes time and they will certainly arrive from their national teams with a better match pace and pace than ours, a good condition, because there will be those who managed to play a little more with a better physical situation because during the summer they continued to work both physically and technically. We all hope that the integration time into the group will be as short as possible, to try to quickly reach a level of team play suitable for this championship.
