The Thomas Beretta adventure continues with the Vero Volley Monza jersey. For the Lombard centre-back, the 23/24 season will be the eleventh in the Monza Consortium, the ninth in a row in SuperLega Credem Banca, and the sixth as captain of the rossoblùs. Solid against the block, poisonous from nine metres, Beretta is also the player who has the most appearances for the Monza shirt (265 between the Italian championship, European cups and national competitions), the only one to have lifted a continental trophy in the men’s sector of the Vero Volleyball: the CEV Cup 2021.
But on the horizon, for him and the Monza team, there is an opportunity to repeat the historic triumph thanks to the pass for Europe. For Vero Volley it will be the third participation in a European cup, the second in the CEV Challenge Cup (third in order of importance) after the Final lost in 18/19 against the Russians of Belgorod, achieved thanks to a fabulous journey in the Play Offs 5 th place, closed with the splendid victory in the Final against Perugia.
In the last season, Beretta made 32 appearances, playing 81 sets and scoring 99 points. Of these, 5 were aces and 42 blocks, with two games in which the “Lion King”, as he is nicknamed by the Monza supporters, posted 6 personal blocks (10th first leg, Monza vs Modena, and Game 2 of the Quarter Finals of the Scudetto Play Offs, Monza vs Trento). Among other curiosities concerning him, in his free time he loves surfing and can play the violin.
