Emma Villas Siena’s third test match of the season took place, leaving good impressions regarding the performance of coach Gianluca Graziosi’s team against a stellar team like that of Sir Susa Vim Perugia. The Umbrians were missing eight players from their roster, including Giannelli and Leon, volleyball players who were recently involved in the European Championships which ended in Rome with the final between Italy and Poland.
Siena went two sets down, then managed to recover and make it 2-2 by winning the third and fourth sets. The final numbers for the Biancoblu were good: 56% in attack, 11 winning blocks (against 5 for the Perugians, all achieved in the first two sets). The Brazilian opposite Matheus Krauchuk finished the match with 19 points and with 67% as an offensive percentage (and also with 3 winning blocks), Sebastiano Milan put down 16 balls with 62%.
The team is therefore amalgamating. The first official match will be scheduled for October 15th, the day on which the first day of the championship will be played. Emma Villas Siena will be in Ortona, Abruzzo that day.
“Today in Perugia we were missing a few stars who play for Sir but on the pitch we still faced very good players – was Matheus Krauchuk’s post-match comment. – I think it was a good performance on our part, for us test matches like this are useful and very useful in all fundamentals. I feel good, I worked a lot even in the summer. I feel good in this group, I like to underline that there are guys who push hard even in training and in fact I’m not surprised that the team is already in shape. I believe we can have good prospects.”
“I give positive evaluations to this evening – is the comment of Sebastiano Milan. – Playing against teams like Perugia can only do us good in view of the start of the championship. We were good in the third and fourth sets, however even in the first two sets we remained close despite making a few too many errors. In my opinion it was a very good friendly match. I see a good fluidity of play in the team, although obviously we can improve a lot. We are still up and down, but the team is working hard and I am absolutely confident.”
