The all-Lazio tournament of the Memorial Paolo Conti, which was played in the Palestra Marchesi di Genzano, ended with a third place for the Plus Volleyball Sabaudia. The tournament saw the competition between Tuscania Volley, BCC Colli Albani, Plus Volleyball Sabaudia and Marino Pallavolo ASD in memory of the historic president of Genzano Paolo Conti, who recently passed away. Tuscania Volley won first place, the hosts of BCC Colli Albani Volley School Genzano won the silver medal, the third step of the podium was occupied by Plus Volleyball Sabaudia, finally Marino Pallavolo ASD finished in fourth place. The Plus Volleyball Sabaudia enters the tournament at 11am against Tuscania. After a first set which saw the Pontini clearly victorious with the remarkable result of 25 to 20, thanks to an excellent block and a great understanding between the whole team and the setter Mario Catinelli, Sabaudia showed itself to be less aggressive in the second set, which , also thanks to the numerous serving errors, was won by Tuscania, overturning the previous result, with a partial score of 20 to 25. This trend is confirmed by the partial scores which demonstrate how the Viterbo team was able to maintain the advantage throughout the second set . Finally, the third set is also won by Tuscania Volley 12 to 15, demonstrating once again how the Viterbo team is equipped for a leap in category. The second match of the tournament, against Marino Pallavolo ASD, sees Sabaudia catch their breath and show their pride. In fact, the first set ended with an excellent partial of 25-21. In the second set a more aggressive Marino tries to put the Pontine team in difficulty, succeeding on some occasions, but in the end it is the team led by coach Giombini that puts his signature on this match with a partial score of 25 to 23, which allows him to take third place in the tournament.
Andrea Rondoni (Plus Volleyball Sabaudia): “It is certainly a tournament that helped us fine-tune our preparation. Although it was not the result we expected, as we wanted to take home first place, it was still an important test to take stock of the situation, which gave us an image of the team that was undoubtedly positive despite all the difficulties of the case. The next objective will be to clash with a team in our category, which will happen on Thursday against Marcianise, and take advantage of all the friendly matches on the calendar to arrive at October 15th in the best possible way.”
