Joint training between Abba Pineto and Volley Banca Macerata took place yesterday at PalaVolley S.Maria. The hosts had the upper hand, finishing with a 3-0 which hides a positive performance from the red and whites, capable of holding their own against the A2 team for long stretches. Volley Banca Macerata suffered somewhat in reception due to the serving pressure exerted by Abba Pineto, but managed not to let their opponents escape who won the first two sets with a result of 25-22. At the end of the third set the hosts extended the lead to 25-18. The coaches then agreed on a fourth set, to give even more space to the boys on the bench: this phase of the match proved to be close and ended 25-22 in favor of Pineto.
“I’m happy with the performance,” explains setter Sebastiano Marsili, “We faced a strong team, which plays in the Serie A2 championship and on the pitch we managed to respond point for point. We were also coming off weeks of intense work so we were also a little weighed down, as is normal, but I liked how we played as a team, it’s an important aspect from which to start again.” Are there any details that you think you will focus on in the next week, when there will be new commitments on the field? “We are still in a general preparation phase, in particular we have to work on the harmony between us. We are many new guys and we have been training together for a few weeks, I for one have to get used to playing with everyone. However, I am convinced that we are at a good point and we will have the next tests to improve.”
Meanwhile, Volley Banca Macerata will be involved in a new joint training session with San Giustino, away on Wednesday 20th.
