Emma Villas Siena resumed its training today in view of the next championship match. It will be the last day of the first round, scheduled for Boxing Day, December 26th. That day at 6 pm the championship will return to PalaEstra: the matches of the twelfth day will all be played at the same time.

In the days approaching the Christmas holidays in Siena, we will therefore think about the Tuscan derby, given that the next day includes the match between Emma Villas and Kemas Lamipel Santa Croce on the calendar. And we will also think back to the beautiful victory achieved (1-3 the final result) in Porto Viro. A match won against a direct rival in the fight to win the playoffs.

Thanks to that success, Siena reaffirmed its fifth position in the standings, rising to 22 points, and with a record so far of 7 victories and 5 defeats. Porto Viro is seventh in the standings with 17 points. The Sienese now have a 6-point advantage, with a view to qualifying for the playoffs, over the team that currently occupies eighth position in the rankings. That team is Santa Croce, which has 16 points and has won six of the twelve matches played so far in this championship. In fact, the top seven ranked teams will enter the playoffs at the end of the regular season.

In Porto Viro, on the Po delta, Emma Villas Siena played in a lucid manner. He attacked well and paid attention to blocking and defense. Good contribution arrived with the fundamental of the serve, with 6 winning serves (4 of which scored by the Brazilian opposite player Matheus Krauchuk) and services which however often caused difficulties for the Delta Group’s reception.

Krauchuk was one of the protagonists of the match, with 23 points scored and with a good performance also in batting. Sebastiano Milan (16 points), Alessio Tallone (14) and Riccardo Copelli (11) also scored double figures for the Sienese team. MVP of the match was awarded to the French setter of the Sienese team Thomas Nevot, who was good at making the team coached by coach Gianluca Graziosi spin very well.

Santa Croce comes from a fantastic period. The Tuscan team has won the last four matches played, and last day they even managed to defeat the league leaders and who until then had been undefeated, Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina. Previously Kemas Lamipel had defeated Castellana Grotte (3-0), Porto Viro away (0-3) and Brescia (3-0).
