As every autumn, the appointment with Spirito di Squadra returns, the solidarity event which involves many realities and associations from Gubbio, which every year join forces to create a tournament which combines the sporting aspect with the desire to promote targeted initiatives for the good of the community. As usual, volleyball acts as a glue to bring together crowds of enthusiasts and simply curious people under the same roof of the Multipurpose Gym, who will certainly not fail to make their support felt during the two days of matches. Even for the 11th edition the formula envisages a men’s volleyball quadrangular, with three teams ready to face the new Super League season and a foreign new entry who willingly accepted the invitation from the organizing committee.
VALUE QUADRANGULAR. The 2023 edition of Spirito di Squadra is scheduled for Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th October. One year after their first participation in the tournament, Gioiella Prisma Taranto is back: the Apulian team, entrusted this year to the new coach Vincenzo Mastrangelo, aims to play an important role in the top national championship by relying on the experience of Filippo Lanza, who returned to Italy after the experiences gained in Poland, and to the quality of the US international Kyle Russell and the enthusiasm of the other American Jeffrey Jendryk and the young Lorenzo Sala, who arrived from Modena. Not even Cisterna is missing, which this year has revolutionized the company management after the end of the Top Volley experience: the Pontine team has also changed its skin on the pitch, with the new coach Guillermo Falasca who will be able to count on a very young, in which the libero Alessandro Piccinelli (ex Perugia) and the spiker Pavle Peric, Serbian international, stand out. First ever participation for Padova Volleyball, with Jacopo Cuttini on the bench and a nice brood of young people, including the son of art Davide Gardini, the Belgian Mathijs Desmet and the Dutch central Fabian Plak. Finally, an absolute first for the Greeks of Panathinaikos, one of the historic clubs on the Hellenic scene, with 20 championships under their belt and many participations in continental competitions. In the ranks of the Athens green team there is also a bit of Italy, since since last season the opposite number has been called Jiri Kovar, former Lube star with an important past also in the national team.
A LOOK AT THE SKY. The organization has been working for months to set up a machine which, as always, will rely on the extraordinary ability of the people of Gubbio to cooperate for the success of the event.
