Pietro Bonisoli’s adventure at the European Youth Olympic Festival, an event that took place in the Slovenian city of Maribor, ended with the silver medal. The blue selection led by coach Zanin reached the final of the men’s tournament, thus ending its journey in second position.
Italy’s journey began with the peremptory victory against Belgium, inaugurating the competition in the best possible way, to then beat Greece with a score of 3 to 1. In the last outing of the group stage, the Azzurrini fell in the tie-break at the hands of the hosts Slovenia, however, progressing to the next round as the top of their group. In the semifinals, the Italian team beat the Czech Republic at the end of a thrilling challenge, before giving in to France in the final act of the EYOF. Bonisoli entered the field in all matches, offering his contribution especially in defence.
Second silver metal, therefore, for the Libero from Verona after the one he won at the Wevza Tournament a few weeks ago and now he is preparing to face another prestigious challenge. In fact, the 2005 class will take part in the U19 World Championships, which will take place in San Juan, Argentina, from 2 to 11 August.
