He has height (203 centimeters), technical (and human) qualities, as well as a desire to improve and get involved that is difficult to quantify. If it’s true that Belluno Volley was looking for a profile of this type, then there’s no doubt: they found him in Andrea Schiro. The company was convinced of this when it chose it, and first announced it, last May. But he has had a shattering confirmation now that the spiker who passed through Padua and Motta di Livenza has set foot on the Spes Arena parquet.
GROUP ALREADY CLOSE TOGETHER – Schiro and the rhinos want to go far, even if the journey has just started: «Right from the start – says the athlete from Thiene, who will blow out 22 candles in eight days – we started pushing, albeit following a certain gradualness. Every day we increase the pace. What we are doing during the preparation period will be very useful later on ». Andrea is one of the many new faces, in the Belluno house: «We are already a close-knit group – he continues -. Here there is the right mix between young people and more experienced athletes: we make fun of each other outside the volleyball context, while we train head down and seriously when it’s time to get serious. Yes, it really is a splendid collective. As well as the environment: quiet, ideal for working profitably».
SHADOW TEAM – The spiker, who boasts a title of European champion with the Italian Under 22 national team, was particularly impressed by the “shadow team” of Belluno Volleyball. The one that, in the match, does not go within the net, but allows the athletes to express themselves at their best in the challenges valid for the three points: «The staff is really large, there are many people who follow us. And this is a fundamental aspect». In this regard, in addition to coach Colussi, the assistant Malaguti (deputy De Cecco will arrive after the commitments with Slovenia) and the athletic trainer Sergio Sartori, the factotum Lorenzo Bianchet, the collaborator Claudio Neri, the doctor Marco Sommavilla, the physiotherapist Luca Gallina, the team manager Riccardo Zanolli and also the scoutman Francesco Gasperin. With the corporate and executive top management committed to guaranteeing constant support.
CONDITIONS – In the meantime, the first test of the season is scheduled for Saturday 16 September (5 pm, in Lambioi) against Serie B Povegliano. But Schiro would be ready to play tomorrow morning too: «I’ll give everything, I’m doing my best like everyone of my comrades. The group is there, the staff as well. And the prerequisites for playing a great season are certainly not lacking».
