Sad news has shaken the entire world of Volleyball Wolves and the entire community of S. Croce sull’Arno. President Piero Conservi, at the end of a long illness, left us in the early afternoon today, Monday 18 September. As long as his strength supported him, he wanted to stay close to his team and the environment he loved so much: tried, suffering, but still lucid and tenacious, he showed up at some matches last year, receiving greetings and applause, talking with the staff, with the athletes, inquiring about the situation that he could no longer follow as at the beginning of the mandate. Then, as the months passed, the illness forced him to bed, watched over and cared for to the last by his family, to whom we send our most sincere condolences, as well as those of the entire world of sport, of the institutions, and of Santa Croce associationism.
Piero Conservi became President of the Lupi Pallavolo in April 2021. A very well-known person in Santa Croce sull’Arno, already sports councilor for a decade, governor of the local Misericordia, and general secretary of the legendary “A.S. Lupi” for about fifteen seasons (between the sixties and seventies), paired with president Gronchi. A true red and white fan, protagonist of the civil life of Santa Croce sull’Arno, passionate about volleyball, authoritative voice of the board of directors. These were his declarations at the time of his inauguration: «Holding the highest position of the Wolves is a great honor for me, my commitment will be constant and always aimed at the best for a historical society of Santa Croce sull’Arno. I want to thank my friend and predecessor Sergio Balsotti for his commitment over the past five years and sincere thanks go to the board of directors who thought of me for such a prestigious position.” A position he honored to the end.
