President Bisogno, there are three matches left at the end of the Regular Season and Emma Villas is three points behind the third from last and one point from the penultimate. What do we expect from the next matches?
“We can see what is positive. We all know what our destiny was a few weeks ago, thanks to a group that went far below expectations. Now we must say that this situation one point from Taranto and three from Padua is certainly a situation open to more than one final. Plus we have one more game to play. We still regret these last two games, against Modena and against Taranto, in which we could have achieved something more. Saturday’s match against Taranto was one of those occasions that happen rarely and that can change the fate of an unfortunate season, of a club and of a sporting project that is the object of so much dedication. When we acquired this title in the summer, it was meant to be the first brick for building a path of growth and development for volleyball in Tuscany and Siena.
Now we need to have a great uniformity of thought, especially on the part of the players and the staff. A competitive and combative spirit will be needed given the level of the teams we will have to face. Otherwise it will become a titanic undertaking.”
The next two games are against Civitanova this Saturday and Verona next Sunday. Can it be an advantage to play them at home?
“This is a very hot topic. In my opinion, on Saturday, in Taranto, that extra point was made by the public who supported the team in an exceptional way, as a landlord public should do. I’m a football fan so I’m not surprised if the crowd boos or cheers against me. The Taranto supporters cheered correctly, as warmly as a Southern Italy supporter can be. I congratulate them. I would like that for us too in these two matches the public can be a useful weapon to support the team in critical moments. This is a bit of a litmus test. We need to support our team now because this is the time when those who love this project need to make their voices heard.”
