Delta Group Porto Viro further shores up its spiker department and does so with the second international purchase in the space of a few days: after the Brazilian Pedro, the Greek Sokratis Charalampidis, born in 1997, 198 centimeters tall, arrives at the court of coach Daniele Morato.

Having landed in our country a few hours ago, Charalampidis begins his adventure in black and fuchsia full of enthusiasm: “First of all I want to thank the club and the coach for their trust, I am happy and excited to be able to play here. – he says – Since I was a child I have watched and followed the SuperLega and Serie A2 with great interest, so I know Italian volleyball quite well. I have heard only good things about Delta Volley and I can confirm what they told me: from the first moment I understood that this club works in a very professional manner. The team that has been set up has strong and highly experienced players, I am part of a very high level group.”

Born in Alexandroupoli, Charalampidis played the first five seasons of his career – from 2013 to 2018 – in his hometown team, Ethnikos Alexandroupolis, which in those years played in the Greek A1 Series and played in the Cev Cup and the Challenge Cup. At the same time the Delta Group’s new signing goes through the entire process with the Greek youth national teams: U17, U19, U21. In 2018/2019 he moved to Germany to CV Mitteldeutschland, with which he immediately won the northern group of the 2nd Bundesliga, the second German championship. The following season he moved to UVC Ried, a team from the Austrian A1 Series also involved in the Challenge Cup. In 2021/2022 he returned to Greece to wear the OFI Crete shirt in A1, the following year he was at AO Kalamata 1980 in the Pre Greek League. In the last season he played in the Israeli Premier League, among the ranks of SVA Rehovot.

“I think it’s not up to me to describe myself as a player, I leave it up to others to do so, but I can say that my motto is that in life you never stop learning. – states Charalampidis – All the experiences I have had and the countries I have played in have taught me something and made me grow both on and off the pitch. The Italian Serie A2 is a very tough championship, every match is balanced, so I know that a tough challenge awaits me but also that I can only improve as a player: I want to learn as much as possible from the coach and my teammates. A message for the black and fuchsia fans? I know we will need their support to achieve our goals, I personally promise that I will give 110% for the team in every match.”
